This October, Emily Wessel, co-designer of Tin Can Knits, will be traveling up the Pacific Coast on a book and trunk show tour starting in Los Angeles and ending in Vancouver, BC.

We are excited to announce that on October 16th & 17th, Emily will stop in Salem to visit Tangled Purls! She will teach three classes, and will hold a trunk show and book signing event.

Emily will bring the full trunk show for her latest book, Handmade in the UK, plus samples from Tin Can Knits' other books: Pacific Knits, Great White North, and 9 Months of Knitting. Plan to join us to see all of these gorgeous creations in person and to meet Emily and have her sign the books & patterns that you purchase at Tangled Purls.

The classes are filling so sign up soon!

SITKA SPRUCE HATsitka
The twisted stitch pattern which adorns the Sitka Spruce hat is quite simple to work, but creates a complex, fascinating texture. Learn all the techniques required to make the hat, including reading the charted pattern, working twisted ribbing, making twisted stitches, and troubleshooting. The pattern includes both snug beanie and slouchy beret style options (beret style shown), as well as mitts.

POP BLANKET or VIVID BLANKET
Choose your favorite modern afghan! Come along and get started making an heirloom baby blanket, or a beautiful throw for your newly-renovated living room. Both the Pop and Vivid blankets are knit in squares, then seamed together at the end. Knit from the center out, Pop uses circular vividincreases then short rows to shape the corners. Vivid uses lace charts, which increase at 4 points to create scrumptious squares! You will learn all the techniques as you make one square, and have a demonstration on blocking and seaming techniques.

Class Date: Wednesday, October 16, 2013
Class Time: 1:30pm - 4:30pm
Skill Level: This class is suitable for confident beginners who have knit in the round on double pointed needles before (or long circulars using the magic loop technique).

LOW TIDE CARDIGAN - Child or Adult

LUSH CARDIGAN or LOW TIDE CARDIGAN
These beautiful seamless cardigans are very different in style, yet they both feature bold lace insets at the bodice! Pick your favorite, and get started making a beautiful garment for yourself, or your little cutie! Tin Can Knits patterns are sized from baby to big (0-6 months all the way to adult 4XL) for maximum flexibility. So you can either start small, or go all out!
In each cardigan, the lace panels are the first element to be knit, so everyone will get started with the most complex part of the project, and the rest of the construction process, with associated techniques, will be discussed. You will learn a provisional cast-on, how to read lace from charts, how to pick up stitches, and several other techniques!

Class Date: Thursday, October 17, 2013
Class Time: 9am - noon
Skill Level: This class is great for advanced beginners and intermediate knitters looking to expand their skill set! It is not necessary to have knit lace before, but it would help.
